FAQ: The supply list calls for buckram. What is buckram, do I need it, and where do I get it?
Answer: Buckram is a stabilizer that is particularly well suited for our bag designs. See Kay’s Blog entry What in the heck is buckram? for more information.
FAQ: Is there a product I can substitute for buckram?
Answer: Peltex 71 is a one-sided fusible stabilizer that can be successfully substituted for the buckram/fusible fleece combination called for in the pattern. As an added bonus, Peltex is machine washable while buckram is dry clean only. I actually prefer this product over buckram and use it on my newer bag designs.
